* Functional Behaviour Assessment: Conducting a thorough assessment to understand the reasons behind a participant’s challenging behaviours. This involves analysing the context of behaviours, triggers, and the impact on the participant’s life and relationships.
* Individualised Support Plans: Developing tailored behaviour support plans that include strategies to encourage positive behaviour, reduce challenging behaviours, and improve the participant’s overall functioning and well-being.
* Positive Behaviour Strategies: Implementing strategies that reinforce positive behaviours through rewards, encouragement, and creating supportive environments. This may include teaching alternative behaviours that serve the same purpose as the
challenging behaviour.
* Crisis Management: Providing immediate strategies and support for managing crises that may arise from challenging behaviours. This can include de-escalation techniques and plans for ensuring safety.
* Skill Development: Teaching participants essential skills to enhance their communication, emotional regulation, and social interactions. This can empower them to express their needs and feelings more appropriately and effectively.
* Family and support worker Training: Offering training and support for family members and support workers on how to implement behaviour support strategies, understand the participant’s needs, and maintain consistency in behaviour management approaches.
